W+K London wins Yakult
pitch

05.07.2005 |

W+K London has been awarded the £5 million UK advertising account for Yakult, the probiotic drinks manufacturer, beating the incumbent cdp-travisully, Saatchi & Saatchi, Lowes, and Fallon.

Kim Papworth, Joint Creative Director at Wieden + Kennedy said, "Yakult is a classic brand that has changed little in its 70 year life. We are thrilled to be given the opportunity to continue changing as little as possible."

The win comes after a series of other pitch and awards
successes for the London office. At the beginning of
the year Wieden + Kennedy won Sky One, Pizza Hut
and then Electronic Arts. Winning Yakult marks the
entry into a new market category for the agency and
the opportunity to re-launch the brand in an extremely
crowded market place.

Michael Russoff, who was Creative Director on the
pitch commented, "There are so few products in our
supermarkets these days with honesty and integrity.
Yakult is one of those rare ones. At the moment it's
very misunderstood. And now we've got the chance to
make people see how loveable and unique it really is.
It's a complete one-off, and the world's always a more
interesting place with those in it.

Every meeting we had with Yakult during the pitch was
a joy. I think it's because Yakult's a brilliant fit with W+K.
Two companies that believe in people's potential, that
love to look at things differently. Two companies who
understand the value of strong internal cultures."
