Run London 2006

18.07.2006 |

Run London is now in its sixth year and this year's theme is North versus South in recognition of the city's local rivalry.

Our job is to recruit 35,000 people to run for 'their manor' and to settle the debate, with Nike as arbitrator, about which side is better, once and for all. We sought to instil a macro team mentality to give people a sense of belonging as well as upping the rivalry. The communication revolves around the teams dressed in green (North) and orange (South) encouraging each other via a series of performance tips whilst seeking to faze the opposition with their prowess.

The campaign is running in two phases, the first being
the recruitment stage; Nike encouraging runners to
join in and conclude the perennial argument. This kicks
off on the IMAX site on Waterloo bridge, in as neutral
a zone as possible. This will then be joined by a DPS in
the Metro and bus sides and underground 48s.

The second phase, with teams trash talking, will appear
later in the year.

Meet the Yakults

17.07.2006 |

Wieden + Kennedy London have developed a new campaign for Yakult breaking on Monday 17 July.

The work, written and art-directed by Michael Russoff, Mark McCall and Richard Dorey, continues to celebrate the iconic brand through the distinctive animation style established in W+K's first campaign produced last September. This time the focus is on celebrating Yakult's 71 and a half-year heritage.

Most consumers don't know very much about Yakult. Some assume it is just like any of the other probiotic drinks you get nowadays. Others think it comes from Scandinavia or Germany. The reality is that Yakult has a long and fascinating history dating back to 1935 when the product was first developed by the Japanese microbiologist Dr. Shirota. Since then, whilst some elements of the packaging have changed (but not a lot), what's inside the bottles hasn't - it's still the same drink now as it was back in 1935 when Dr. Shirota first realised that it could help people's natural defences.

The 30 second spot celebrates Yakult's heritage as a
functional food by looking at how the bottle has
changed since 1935. The different bottles that have
been used through the years are seen in their
appropriate animated context covering the 1930's,
1940's, 1960's, 1980's and ending with the animated
style used today.

The TV ad breaks on Monday 17th July with a press
campaign following a week later.

To view the latest TV ad please go to the Work section
of this website and check out Yakult/TV.
